Purdue to wear Rose Bowl throwback uniform this weekend

On Wednesday evening, the Purdue Boilermakers football program announced that its players will be wearing throwback uniforms this weekend to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their last Rose Bowl appearance and last Big Ten championship.

These Drew Brees era throwback uniforms feature white block numbers and gold and white stripes on the sleeves. The original uniforms were outfitted by Champion instead of Purdue’s current outfitter Nike. While this throwback is nearly identical, Purdue’s current train logo is on the collar of the jersey.

The Boilermakers wore the road version of this throwback look back in 2010 against Minnesota to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of their Rose Bowl appearance. Unlike this season’s throwback, that uniform featured a Rose Bowl patch on the right shoulder and a rose wrapped through the Motion “P” logo on the helmet.

Purdue will face Northwestern on Saturday evening in the throwback uniform.
