UCLA joins Jordan Brand/Nike for latest outfitter deal

On Tuesday, the University of California, Los Angeles athletics department announced that they will be joining Nike and Jordan Brand as their official athletic footwear, apparel and equipment provider beginning on July 1, 2021.

Under the six-year contract, Jordan Brand will outfit the men’s and women’s basketball programs as well as the football team. Nike will supply gear for UCLA’s other 22 varsity athletic teams.

Joining Jordan Brand makes UCLA the first and only school in the Pac-12 Conference to sport the Jumpman logo. Now each of the Power 5 conferences will have one Jordan Brand team (ACC = North Carolina, Big Ten = Michigan, Big 12 = Oklahoma, SEC = Florida). Additionally, Marquette, Georgetown, Houston and San Diego State are part of the Jordan Brand family, but for basketball only.

The move to Nike and Jordan Brand comes as Under Armour, who signed UCLA to the largest apparel deal in NCAA history in 2016 at 15-years for $280 million, terminated their contract over the summer due to unforeseeable circumstances because of the coronavirus pandemic as one of the reasons.
