On Monday, the Indiana University football program unveiled their “Salute to Service” uniform the team will wear this season.

The gray camo uniform was inspired by the design of the WW II battleship USS Indiana BB 58, which was painted camouflage to break the silhouette from over-the-horizon detection. The sleeves include the forward-facing United States flag on the right and nine “battle” stars on the left. The nine stars represent the nine engagements the ship was part of during WWII, including the battles of Iwo Jima and Okinawa in 1945. Lastly, the inside center helmet stripe will list the names of crew members of the USS Indiana.

It is unknown at this time when the Hoosiers will wear the uniform, but it is worth noting that Veterans Day is on Wednesday, Nov 11 so we could see the uniform on the field the weekend before or after.
