Dallas Stars unveil new blackout uniform

On Wednesday, the Dallas Stars officially unveiled their new alternate look after teasing a new uniform all week.

The new threads bring the Dallas Stars back to their original look, when they moved to Texas in 1993, by bringing black back as the base color.

The blackout alternate features the State of Texas as the crest for the first time and adds a new color, “Skyline Green”, to the Stars’ color scheme. The outside of the collar incorporates a stylized Texas flag with a lone star on the upper left of the collar and Skyline Green and black stripes wrapping around the collar. Inside the collar is the phrase “Come and Take It” with a cannon and star designed after the 1835 flag for the Battle of Gonzales, the first military engagement of the Texas Revolution. Dallas’ stripes on the sleeves and waist mimic the striping pattern of their traditional home jersey but recolored with the new Skyline Green. The numbers on the jersey are black with a Skyline Green outline and are perforated to give it a beveled look.

To complete the look, Dallas will wear black helmets with the ‘Dallas Stars’ wordmark in Skyline Green and plain black pants. The Stars will also wear all black gloves to focus all the attention on the new jersey.

“The jersey design committee was tasked with finding a way to incorporate the heart of the city of Dallas and the spirit of Texas into a uniform,” said Dallas Stars President and CEO Brad Alberts. “Today (Wednesday) is an exciting day as we have worked hard over the last two years at creating a third jersey that will make our fanbase proud, and with the help of Adidas Hockey, we feel like the blackout third jersey will do just that. The Dallas skyline is iconic and introducing Skyline Green into our uniforms is a vibrant reminder of our great city.”

The new alternate jersey will be the first time the Stars have had a third jersey entering a season since 2006.
