UCF unveils latest space game uniform

On Thursday afternoon, the UCF Knights football program unveiled their latest Space Game uniform after months of anticipation.

This season’s edition of the Space Game uniform focuses on technology used in space.

Going from head-to-toe, the black helmet features the blueprints of the Orion Space Capsule, a NASA spacecraft designed to carry humans, on the helmet stripe and a large chrome UCF decal on each side. On the bumper of the helmet is the number “321” to represent the area code of the Kennedy Space Center in Brevard County.

The sleeves of the pewter gray jersey feature an intricate grid pattern that are based on the Directional Flight Guidance Menu, which was used by NASA to pilot the space shuttles. Place on black sleeves the pattern was recolored to Canaveral Blue and gray to give it a UCF specific look. The numbers on the jersey are a mix of the previous two Space Game uniforms. This season’s numbers use the same constellation backdrop as last year, but are outlined in a reflective silver like 2018’s jersey. The Citronaut mascot logo was placed on the collar.

To complete the look, the pants continue the use of grids going down the side. The first grid pattern represents the exterior of the Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico which is operated by UCF. The second grid mimics the layout of the campus, specifically the circular design you can see on the campus map.

After getting all the new Space Game uniforms this morning, just two days before gameday, the entire equipment staff will be working nonstop to get everything ready in time for Saturday’s game against Tulane.

UCF looks to stay undefeated in their Space Game uniform as they are currently 3-0.
