Boston College to wear 1984 throwback uniforms

On Wednesday, the Boston College Eagles football team unveiled 1984 inspired throwback road uniforms.

The 1984 uniforms highlight one of Boston College’s most successful eras when Doug Flutie was their starting quarterback and won the Heisman Trophy. While the throwback uniforms aren’t the exact same layout of the original, they do have the same feel.

The white jersey features the retro “BC” logo on the shoulder, which weren’t originally on the 1984 jersey, and maroon numbers outlined in gold. On the sides of the pants is a white-maroon-white stripe. There is no helmet stripe on the glossy gold helmet. Missing from the original jersey is the classic sleeve stripes.

It’s unknown at this time when the team will wear the uniform and how many times throughout the season.

Boston College wore a nearly identical throwback uniform in the 2015 Shamrock Series game at Fenway Park against Notre Dame. BC recently wore the home version of this uniform in 2018 and 2019.
