Patriots unveil new uniforms

On Patriots Day morning, the New England Patriots unveiled new primary uniforms for the first time in 20 years as they head into the 2020 season.

“As we started to think about the 2020 season and a new decade, we began to envision what we wanted our uniforms to reflect,” Jen Ferron, CMO of Kraft Sports and Entertainment, said. “The success of the ‘Color Rush’ uniform that we’ve worn for the past couple of years had us thinking that we didn’t need to make real substantive changes, rather we could make modest changes to our home uniform and then use a complimentary version with those same aesthetics for our away uniform.”

What was their “Color Rush” alternate uniform since 2016 is now their new home primary uniform, with a completely new white jersey for away games.

The new blue home uniform is nearly identical to the “Color Rush” with a few small tweaks. The number and nameplate font was updated and red, white and blue color-blocked socks will complete the look. The white jersey matches the updated blue jersey with red-blue-red shoulder stripes and blue numbers outlined in silver and red. Blue pants will be worn with both the blue and the white jerseys.

According to Ferron, the Patriots will look to bring back their classic red throwback uniform as an alternate once the league ends the one helmet rule. With the Patriots currently wearing a silver helmet, the team couldn’t respect the integrity of that throwback uniform, which used a white helmet.

“Our primary uniforms in the modern era have been blue and white and they will remain so,” Ferron said. “We recognize that fans also have an affinity for the red ‘throwback’ uniform and we hope to incorporate that into our uniform rotation in the future.”
