Mavs to wear art-inspired City Edition uniform

On Tuesday, the Dallas Mavericks officially introduced their new City Edition uniform for the 2019-20 season. The Mavs uniform takes inspiration from the city’s art scene by using bright colors and graffiti.

According to the Mavs, the graffiti wordmark “represents not only the birth of the graffiti culture in the Dallas community, but also the importance of art as a vessel for expression and emotion.”

The Mavs partnered with Tex Moton, a Dallas native and artist, to create the uniform. Dallas’ City Edition uniform features Moton’s signature style of bold colors and dynamic line movement that influenced the street art culture of Dallas in the late 90’s to current. The phase “Deep in the Heart” is on the jock tag as a nod to the fusion of art, passion and sports in Dallas, the heart of Texas.

The Mavs will wear the uniform for 22 games during the regular season and debut the uniform on Nov. 26 against the LA Clippers. They will also play on a special alternate court for home games when wearing the City Edition uniform.
