Kansas to wear student-designed jerseys

On Saturday, the Kansas Jayhawks will face their in-state rival Kansas State in new, student-athlete designed jerseys. The new jerseys were designed by KU’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) to support the #OneTeam initiative which was created to celebrate KU’s diversity collectively as a student-athlete body. The #OneTeam initiative was started in 2017.

Kansas’ new gray jersey features white numbers outlined in red and blue. The SAAC-designed jersey also features contrasting sleeves with red on the players’ right sleeve and blue on the left sleeve.

“#OneTeam represents the notion that while there are many student-athletes from different backgrounds, countries and different sports that at the end of the day, we are all one team at the University of Kansas,” said former-SAAC president Casey Douglas. “We wanted #OneTeam to embody our differences, so as a whole we are stronger and can support one another.”

With SAAC’s support, each of KU’s athletic programs designates one home game or event on its schedule as its #OneTeam game, where all student-athletes are encouraged to attend.
