West Virginia unveils new basketball uniforms

On Friday evening, the West Virginia Mountaineers unveiled new basketball uniforms for their men’s and women’s teams. Both teams will have a consistent look with four options featuring blue, gold, white and gray uniforms. The new uniforms come after the athletic department underwent a brand update by introducing a new typeface and “Mountaineer Pattern” back in April.

Both the men’s and women’s uniforms feature “WEST VIRGINIA” on the chest on the blue uniform and “MOUNTAINEERS” on the white uniform. The gold and gray uniforms both feature the “Flying WV” logo on the chest.

The blue and gold uniforms for both teams have elements (font, trim, etc.) with the contrasting color. The numbers on the both the men’s and women’s white uniform are now blue with a gold outline (the previous uniform was gold with a blue outline making it difficult to read from a distance). The men’s gray uniform follows the updated numbers, while the women’s gray uniform follows the previous numbers.

The men’s uniforms feature a colored band on the shoulders and two wide stripes that wrap around the sides and back of the legs on the shorts. The women’s uniforms feature a double stripe down the side of the uniform that flares out at the bottom of the shorts.

The new uniforms complete the updated look for WVU basketball, as the court at WVU Coliseum was refinished and repainted this summer.
