Rutgers unveils long-sleeve throwback uniform

On Thursday, the Rutgers Scarlet Knights unveiled long-sleeved throwback uniforms. The uniform celebrates 150 years of college football when Rutgers and Princeton (then called the College of New Jersey) played the first college football game in 1869.

The red jersey is on adidas’ Primeknit A1 template and features Rutgers’ current number font and “1869” throughout the uniform. Also included with the uniform is white/cream helmet with an old-school “R” logo on the sides. “1869” is on the front bumper of the helmet and “The Birthplace” (of college football) is on the back bumper. The pants are also white/cream colored to resemble the look from 1869. To complete the look are black cleats that feature 1869-inspired lace jewels.

Rutgers will wear the uniform on Oct. 19 against Minnesota.
