Jazz bring back purple mountain uniform and court

On Wednesday, the Utah Jazz unveiled their Classic Edition uniform for the 2019-20 season. The throwback uniform brings back the purple mountain theme, which was worn during the most successful era in the team’s history.

The Classic Edition uniform, based on the 1996-2004 road uniform, features a white-to-purple gradient mountain range and is trimmed in purple, teal, white and copper. While the front chest features the 90s Jazz wordmark. The jersey also includes the Nike logo and the 5 For The Fight patch.

The shorts feature the white mountain range on the left leg, the retro “UJ” secondary logo on the right leg and the snowflake basketball logo on the front waistband.

“I remember as a kid watching the Jazz when they wore these jerseys in the Finals. I’m excited about them,” said recently acquired guard Mike Conley. “I think it’s great. You get so used to wearing the same two or three jerseys, and then you pull out a new one and it gets your juices flowing. We’re all excited.”

The Jazz will wear the uniform at 11 home and select away games during the season.

Also unveiled was a new alternate court the team will play on at Vivint Smart Home Arena when they don their Classic Edition uniform. The alternate hardwood is a replica of the court from that period, which includes the classic primary logo at mid-court. The baselines feature “UTAH JAZZ” with the snowflake basketball logo inbetween the words.
