Through a collaboration between the adidas and Parley for the Oceans, the Miami Hurricanes will be wearing a new alternate uniform in 2019.
The environmentally-conscious uniforms were created from repurposed and upcycled materials. The Primeknit A1 uniform was composed of over 70% regenerated ECONYL yarn, which is a raw material transformed from fishing nets and other nylon waste intercepted in marine environments.
With white as the base color of the uniform, toxic color dyes and materials weren’t needed to create the uniform.
Also, the new, custom-made typography was inspired by the same lettering used for the Orange Bowl.
The new alternate uniform will debut on Oct. 11 against Virginia. Miami first wore a Parley uniform for their 2018 season-opener vs LSU.
