Georgia Tech unveils “Cape Day” uniform

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets unveiled their new “Cape Day” alternate uniform on Monday. As part of adidas’ 2019 Strategy Uniform series, the “Cape Day” alternate uniform will be worn to honor the “true heroes” in the community, kids battling illnesses and injuries at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

The onyx gray alternate uniform features hexagon (honeycomb) patterns with metallic gold accents on the sleeves. On the back of the uniform is a Cape Day crest. The included with the uniform is Georgia Tech’s classic gold helmets and specialty shoes.

Georgia Tech and adidas chose onyx gray because of the color’s historical tie to former head coach John Heisman. Heisman was the first college football coach to start a practice squad. Heisman’s practice squad unit became known as the “Gray Devils”.

Georgia Tech is one of four schools part of the Selfless Pack of adidas’ Strategy Uniform series, which honor and highlights community engagement.

The “Cape Day” uniform will be worn on Oct. 5 against North Carolina.
