On Friday, the Chicago Bulls officially unveiled their latest City Editon uniform for the 2020-21 season. This season’s iteration focuses on the classic art deco style seen around the city.
The wordmark and numbers on the jersey are written in an art deco style font, which was inspired by the font used on the directional signal at the United Center. On the side of the jersey is an art deco diamond pattern that continues down to the shorts.
The pattern ends near the base of the shorts where the Bulls’ classic diamond shape is placed. Inside the diamond the Bulls logo with four Chicago flag style stars. The stars were placed in the corners to mimic the look of rivets in the ironwork of the city’s skyscrapers.
Lastly, above the jock tag is the phrase “No little plans”, which is part of a quote by Daniel Burnham, a Chicago city planner who designed the city after the Great Chicago Fire, who said, “Make no little plans; they have no magic to stir men’s blood.”
