On Friday evening, the Texas Tech Red Raiders football program announced that they will be wearing 1976 throwback uniforms against in-state rival Texas on Saturday.
The throwback uniforms honor Texas Tech’s first Southwest Conference championship in 1976 (shared with Houston).
Texas Tech’s throwback uniform uses the same jersey and pants design of the throwbacks worn over the past few seasons. The helmets, however, are black with the retro logo on both sides and white and red stripe down the middle. Unlike their throwback uniform with the white helmet they’ve previously worn, this helmet doesn’t have any stars toward the front.
