On Thursday, the North Texas Mean Green football team unveiled Hayden Fry-era throwback uniforms the team will wear this weekend in honor of the legendary coach.
Fry, who passed away in December at the age of 90, led the Mean Green from 1973-78 before moving on to coach at the University of Iowa.
The simple all-white uniforms feature a retro UNT eagle logo on both sides of the helmet and lime green numbers on the jersey. The retro logo, which Fry helped to design, is known as the “Flying Worm” logo because of the eagle’s worm-esque body with wings on its back.
North Texas will wear the throwback uniform against SMU (where Fry coached before UNT) on Saturday.
