As part of adidas’ “Selfless Pack” of their Strategy Uniform series, which honor and highlights community engagement, Arizona State wear a new sustainable alternate uniform during the 2019 season.
To be environmentally-friendly, Arizona State’s uniform was made with over 70% Econyl Yarn, which is created from nylon waste from landfills and oceans around the world. The sleeve design features Arizona’s state flag and gives a nod to the 80+ solar pannel on ASU’s campus. The custom-made typography utilizes block letting, using less material. The uniform is also white to eliminate the use of toxic dyes. To complete the look, ASU’s cleats were made of recycled material.
Other schools participating in adidas’ Selfless Pack include Miami (FL), Mississippi State, and Georgia Tech.
Arizona State hasn’t announced which game(s) they will wear the sustainable uniform.
This uniform has nothing to do with former ASU player Pat Tillman, contrary to a report that said these were tribute uniforms. All ASU football uniforms have the “PT42” patch below the collar.
