On Thursday, the Philadelphia 76ers unveiled their 2019-20 Classic Edition uniform. The Classic Edition uniform replicates the jersey that Philadelphia wore for half of the 1970-71 season. The jersey predominantly features a “Seventy Sixers” script on the chest.
The 76ers will be one of only 12 NBA teams that will have a Classic Edition uniform during the 2019-20 season. The Classic Edition will be one of five uniforms the 76ers wear this season, joining the Icon, Association, City and Statement.
Not mentioned is the Earned Edition uniform. According to PhillyVoice article, Nike and the NBA has changed the Earned Edition program and won’t be creating a new uniforms for all the playoff teams.
“The Earned Edition is not going away [entirely],” Katie O’Reilly, Chief Marketing Officer of the Sixers, said. “Nike and the NBA will continue to have this Earned Edition for playoff teams — the teams that ‘earned’ the right to wear it. In the past, it was a uniform, but they changed the program a bit this year, so it will be a piece of on-court gear. It won’t be an actual uniform.”
