adidas/Miami unveils first-ever Parley baseball jerseys

Today, the Miami Hurricanes and adidas unveiled the first-ever baseball jerseys utilizing repurposed and upcycled materials to raise awareness of marine plastic pollution. Created in partnership with Parley for the Oceans, the new, ocean-inspired uniforms will debut on April 26 when the Hurricanes take on Virginia Tech.

From adidas press release:
The adidas x Parley Miami baseball jerseys feature 100% recycled polyester mesh. The result is a durable yet breathable jersey material that adheres to the drags, sprints and swings necessary for a player’s optimal movement and fast journeys around the diamond. In addition to the eco-innovative construction, the Hurricanes’ trademark collegiate orange and dark green jerseys are highlighted with the “Miami” wordmark and player numbers that utilize a 100% recycled twill embroidered with a dark green thread.

Players will also wear baseball cleats made from upcycled plastic materials.
All uniform accessories were designed with the yarn spun from recycled and repurposed materials, some of which were made from waste from beaches and coastal communities. Additionally, coaches and sideline personnel will also wear Parley gear.

The Hurricanes’ football team also wore Parley uniforms in their 2018 season opener vs LSU.
