On Wednesday evening, Lakewood, New Jersey’s Minor League Baseball team announced that the team has changed their team name from the Lakewood BlueClaws to the Jersey Shore BlueClaws.
With the new name comes new logos, caps and jerseys. Designed by Minor League Baseball’s go-to design firm, Brandiose, the BlueClaws new primary mark depicts a crab surfing with a beach ball in the background. The new font on the logo was inspired by the lettering seen on the Jersery Shore boardwalks.
As the Single-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, the BlueClaws new color scheme features “Phillies Red”, “Dark Atlantic Blue”, “Crab Blue” and “Golden Yellow” as the team’s official colors.
In addition to the primary mark, the BlueClaws also unveiled four new alternate logos, with each serving as an on-field cap option for the team in 2021.
One option is an all red cap with the surfing crab, seen in the primary logo. A second option a “Crab Blue” (baby blue) cap with a “Golden Yellow” brim with mark featuring sunglasses that reflect a roller coaster and ferris wheel on the lens. The team’s initials JS and BC appear in the upper corner of each len respectively. Third, is a “Crab Blue” cap with a “Phillies Red” brim that features a “faux-back” style crab with baseball seams. This cap will be the primary road hat. Lastly, the BlueCrabs’ batting practice cap is “Golden Yellow” with a “Dark Atlantic Blue” brim. A crab wearing sunglasses and running with a boogieboard appears on the front of this cap.
The BlueClaws will unveil their complete uniform lineup at a later date.
With the team’s rebranding, the BlueClaws also extended their stadium lease, keeping them in Lakewood for an additional 10 years through 2031.
