On Tuesday evening, the Ottawa Senators unveiled their new uniforms for the upcoming season. The Senators’ new threads are nearly identical to the sweaters the team wore from 1992 to 2007.

The new uniforms come as the team returned to their two-dimensional logo in September.

“This is something that’s been coming for quite some time,” said the team’s president of business operations Anthony LeBlanc. “Prior to joining the team, I was a long-time fan and we all loved that original logo with the 2D and how it looks. The players love it. Everyone is excited to have the classic look back.”

The 2D logo features a profile of a Roman soldier with gold trimming on the cape, instead of red like the original logo, and a gold semicircle with laurel leaves.

Ottawa’s updated retro logo replaces the modernized version which was introduced in 2007. There will not be a secondary logo during the 2020-21 season, according to the team.

The new black home jersey features red sleeve stripes and white numbers outlined in red. While the white road jersey has black and red stripes on the sleeves and black numbers outlined in red.

The Senators won’t have a third jersey for the upcoming season, but the team may add one in for the 2021-22 season.

“That’s a process you go through when you change your look and feel,” LeBlanc said. “You go for a year without a third jersey.”
