Colorado Buffaloes to wear 1960s throwback uniforms

On Thursday, the Colorado Buffaloes announced their plans to wear throwback uniforms on Jan. 12 when they host Utah and honor former coach Russell “Sox” Walseth.

The 1960s white throwback uniform features the word “BUFFS” in gold lettering with gold numbers. An old-school interlocking “CU” is featured on the shorts while the jersey is colored with gold and black trim.

The retro uniforms honor the 1968-1969 Big Eight championship team, Colorado’s last regular season conference title, which Walseth led during his 20 seasons with the school. Walseth is Colorado’s all-time leader in coaching wins and years of service, guiding the Buffaloes to a 261-245 record from 1956-76.
