On Thursday, the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles announced that the men’s basketball team is partnering with Nike to wear turquoise Nike N7 uniforms to celebrate Native American Heritage Day.
“It is an honor to join with Nike to pay tribute to the rich Native American heritage in Oklahoma,” Head Coach Paul Mills said. “The opportunity to partner with Nike and Haskell University, in order to celebrate culture and promote a healthy active lifestyle, is a privilege. We are excited that we can use the game of basketball to empower youth to build friendships and community through sports.”
The new turquoise uniform features a similar design to their regular uniforms. Unlike they’re regular uniforms, the N7 uniform has red feathers on the shorts and red numbers on the front and back. ORU will be one of 15 men’s and women’s teams throughout the country participating in the Nike N7 initiative.
Nike N7 was created to support organizations and provide sport and physical activity programming to youth in Native American and Aboriginal communities.
