On Sunday morning, the Florida Gators unveiled 1960s-inspired throwback (or fauxback) uniforms the team will wear on Oct. 5 for homecoming against Auburn. The throwback look will feature elements from a multitude of seasons during the 1960s.
The white helmet features a gray facemask and a solid orange stripe across the middle which was inspired by the 1950s and early 1960s helmet. The block “F” with a circle decal was used during the early 1960s. A CFB150 logo will be on the front bumper of the helmet, instead of a patch on the jersey.
The blue jersey features a white-orange-white stripe on the shoulders and based the 1960s jersey Steve Spurrier wore while playing for the Gators. The white pants have a blue-orange-blue stripe down each the side. This will be the first time the Gators will wear this throwback jersey and pants in a game since Sept. 30, 2006, against Alabama.
Florida will wear white crew socks that include a blue stripe around the top, inspired by the look of the 1950s and 1960s. They will also wear black cleats with white shoelaces, similar to the style of the 1950s and 1960s.
Lastly, Gators Uniform Tracker and the Auburn Uniform Database will be having a “Uniform Tailgate” before the game. If you’re in the area before the game, go check it out. You can learn more information about it here.
