Iowa State unveils new uniforms for 2018

Nearly one year after head coach Matt Campbell revealed that Iowa State would get a uniform redesign in time for the 2018 season, the third-year coach revealed the Cyclones’ new look on Twitter. Iowa State’s new uniform lineup includes a new white road combination, a cardinal home version and an alternate black version. The uniform redesign comes after Iowa State added various new pieces in Campbell’s first two seasons including a white helmet, a chrome red helmet, and a gray jersey.

“Really [Nike] came in Year 1 when we got here and Year 2 they said, ‘OK, this going to become a reality, we’re going to do this for you guys,'” Campbell said of the process. “Kind of really working with their artist, tying in some history, tying in some lineage, trying to create where do you want to go with this thing and also trying to bring in some new creativity in the uniform. All those things came into play. Was I involved in it? A little bit. Do I really care, honestly? No. I’d just wear our practice uniforms, to be honest with you, but I know it’s important for our program, I do know it’s important for our kids, I know they really like that and if they like that then I want to get it done the right way.”
