In honor of their 50th season playing baseball in Oakland, the A’s unveiled a new alternate jersey that pays homage to their home city.
With former A’s pitcher Dallas Braden emceeing the event, the A’s held a fashion show at their new offices in Jack London Square.
“The jersey has the city of Oakland on the front because there is no better place in the world,” Braden said.
Marcus Semien, Matt Olson, Matt Chapman, and A’s mascot Stomper were on hand to model the new kelly green jerseys, a nod to the brighter green worn by the club from the 60’s to the 80’s, in front of media members and team employees.
The jersey features a 50th anniversary patch on the right sleeve that includes the Oakland Tribune Tower in the background. Also featured is ‘Oakland’ across the chest instead of the usual ‘Athletics’ or ‘A’s’ for home jerseys. The A’s will wear the jerseys every Friday home game this upcoming season.
