On Monday, Adidas and the National Hockey League unveiled all 31 team’s ‘Reverse Retro’ alternate jerseys. Each new jersey was designed around one of each of the team’s throwback jerseys but with modern twists.Â
In alphabetical order by city here are all the ‘Reverse Retro’ jerseys:
Anaheim Ducks: Inspired by their original “Wild Wing” alternate jersey in 1995, this will be the only ‘Reverse Retro’ jersey to have a team’s mascot on the front.
Arizona Coyotes: Swapping green with purple, this jersey was inspired by the Coyotes’ original alternate jersey from 1999. Also included on this jersey is the team’s lizard secondary logo on the shoulders.
Boston Bruins: The team’s classic white jersey worn in the 1988 and 1990 Stanley Cup Finals was given a yellow remix with Boston’s bear head logo on the shoulders.
Buffalo Sabres: This jersey takes the Sabres’ original black and red alternate jersey from 2000 and flips it to the team’s current royal blue and gold color scheme.
Calgary Flames: Inspired after the team’s first alternate jersey in 1998, the jersey features the Flames’ horse head logo on the front. The original jersey was Calgary’s first sweater to not use their Flaming C logo as the front crest.
Carolina Hurricanes: Designed around the Hartford Whalers original home white jersey in 1979, this jersey ties together the Whalers and Hurricanes color schemes by using gray as the base color. On the shoulders is Hartford’s classic whale logo.
Chicago Blackhawks: Based on their 1940 jersey, this look is a variation of the team’s white jersey worn from 1937 to 1955.
Colorado Avalanche: Designed around the Quebec Nordiques look in 1979, this jersey features the Nordiques igloo logo on the front with fleur-de-lis at the bottom but in the Avalanche maroon and blue.
Columbus Blue Jackets: This jersey takes a red twist on the team’s original jersey design from 2000.
Dallas Stars: This white jersey is an alternate take on the Stars’ look when they won the Stanley Cup in 1999.
Detroit Red Wings: Based on the jerseys the Red Wings worn when they won their ninth Stanley Cup in 1998, this white jersey uses gray striping instead of red.
Edmonton Oilers: This jersey is based on the Oilers’ inaugural look in 1979, which was also Wayne Gretzky’s first season in the NHL.
Florida Panthers: This alternate jersey looks back to the team’s appearance in the Stanley Cup Finals in 1996.
Los Angeles Kings: Based on the jerseys worn when Wayne Gretzky became the NHL’s all-time leading scorer in 1989, this jersey features the Kings’ 1990s era logo but in the team’s purple and gold used in the 1960s and 1970s.
Minnesota Wild: Inspired by the old Minnesota North Stars jerseys in 1978, this alternate look features the Wild’s current logo in the North Stars’ green and gold color scheme and drop-shadow numbers.
Montreal Canadiens: Based on the 1976 Canadiens jersey, this ‘Reverse Retro’ jersey swaps the team’s red for blue.
Nashville Predators: Designed around the team’s original jersey in 1998, this alternate brings a modern twist by using the Predators’ current colors and logo.
New Jersey Devils: Inspired by the team’s inaugural look in 1982, this alternate will be the first time the Devils will wear a primarily green jersey.
New York Islanders: Designed around the team’s 1980 jersey, this alternate takes the navy blue and orange colors worn by the Islanders in the 1990s.
New York Rangers: Using the team’s 1996 alternate jersey as inspiration, this ‘Reverse Retro’ look brings back the Statue of Liberty secondary logo and drop shadow numbers.
Ottawa Senators: Designed around their inaugural 1992 jersey, this alternate is updated with red to reflect the Senators’ recent rebranding.
Philadelphia Flyers: Inspired by their 1995 jersey, when they won their division title and Eric Lindros won the Hart Trophy as the league’s MVP, this jersey swaps the white shoulder yoke for black.
Pittsburgh Penguins: This jersey takes their 1997 black jersey and swaps black for white.
San Jose Sharks: This jersey takes their original alternate jersey from 1998 and flips teal with gray.
St. Louis Blues: This ‘Reverse Retro’ jersey takes the Blues’ 1995 blue road jersey, which featured red at the bottom, is flipped with the jersey now primarily red with a blue bottom.
Tampa Bay Lightning: Using the Lightning’s 2004 Stanley Cup-winning jersey design as the base, this alternate mixes in their current blue to celebrate their 2020 title.
Â
Toronto Maple Leafs: Combining two jerseys for their ‘Reverse Retro’, the Maple Leafs are taking the logo used on their 1969-70 jersey and the striping from their 1970-71 jersey. As a nod to the silver used in their 2017 Centennial Classic jersey, gray replaces white on the striping.
Vancouver Canucks: This alternate jersey takes the team’s 2001 red and blue gradient look and swaps in the Canucks current navy blue and green color scheme.
Vegas Golden Knights: Because the team just started play in 2017, the team looked to the Las Vegas Thunder of the International Hockey League for their ‘Reverse Retro’ threads. The Golden Knights used the Thunder’s 1995 jersey as inspiration for their new alternate.
Washington Capitals: This alternate jersey take the Capitals 1997 jersey and updates the jersey with the team’s current red, white and blue color scheme.
Winnipeg Jets: Based around the Jets’ original jersey from 1979, this alternate takes the classic Jets crest and updates the logo and jersey with the team’s current colors.
