Baylor University unveiled new football uniforms for the 2019 season today, ahead of its spring game. It unveiled three monochrome looks, which are expected to be mixed and matched throughout the season. The three uniforms consist of a lighter green than last year, an all-white look similar to last year, and, probably the most significant change, the new gold look. The new “Baylor Gold” replaces the Vegas gold that was used before by the football team.
These color changes stem from Baylor and Nike’s desire for consistently throughout all of the Bears sports.
The next biggest change is the font used on the uniforms. The old serif font was jagged with spikes on the interior of the number. The new sans serif font is much more rounded but still uses the interior spikes.
Design wise, the actual uniforms have been stripped down to the basics. Gone are the paw print on the shoulder and stripes on the pants, and an accent color was added to the collar. Another new edition to the collar is an updated bear logo.
A detail that may be missed is a sublimated stripe on the uniform shoulders, which may only be seen at close distance. The stripe is similar to the one Cal had when it was partnered with Nike.
In addition to the new football uniforms, Baylor also unveiled new uniforms for many other sports, including basketball and baseball. All of the uniforms fall under the new colors and fonts.
The basketball also keeps their tradition alive of having neon in their uniforms with an alternate grey jersey and neon accents.
