On Wednesday, the University of California, Riverside athletics department unveiled their refreshed logos.
The year-long process that involved coaches, staff, student-athletes and donors in the creative development, resulting in a new primary logo, wordmarks and two alternate logos.
The new primary logo features overlapping UCR letters, with the “U” and “C” are merged together to represent Riverside being part of the University of California system. “Scotty Bear” appears inside a tartan shield with ‘UCR’ below the shield as the secondary logo. Lastly, the tertiary logo is the state of California overlapped with a tartan and a diamond placed where the location of the campus is.
“We are quite pleased with our new look and proud of how it reflects the growing strength of our brand,” said Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, Tamica Smith Jones. “Our updated UCR Athletics visual identity system reflects a strong and distinctive presentation of our program while also conveying our overall expectation of driving us toward becoming a top-tier Division I program. I want to thank our leadership team and staff members who guided us through this process as well as our coaches, staff, student-athletes and donors who participated in focus groups, provided feedback or attended presentations since we began this effort in the summer of 2019.”
The new logos were created by national branding and design firm, Bosack & Co.
